Born in 1997 in Berlin, Germany, Moritz played basketball for Alba Berlin before moving to the United States to play college basketball for the University of Michigan Wolverines from 2015 to 2018.

Moritz had a standout career at Michigan, being named to the All-Big Ten Second Team in 2018.

That same year, he helped lead Michigan to the Big Ten Tournament championship, earning Most Outstanding Player honors.

During the NCAA tournament, Moritz was named to the All-Tournament Team for the West Regional and Final Four.

The Los Angeles Lakers selected him at the 2018 NBA draft as 25th overall before being traded to the Washington Wizards and eventually signing with the Orlando Magic in 2019.

Moritz has also represented the German national basketball team. Now, both Wagner brothers play together for the Magic.
