Cardi attended the event with designer Jeremy Scott who accordingly was suited in beads and pearls himself.

But for the people, it was her cinched waist dripping wet look that created all the buzz.
This beaded latex dress took designer Thierry Mugler 8 months to complete.
5. Rihanna
Year: 2015

Only someone with Rihanna’s unique sense of style and passion for cultural significance could wear a gown that is incredible without getting completely lost in all those layers of fabric and fur.

The canary yellow and fur-trimmed gown with its massive train dazzled the crowds and fellow celebs.
The design featured a cape with waves of embroidered florals indigenous to ancient Chinese culture and fabrics.
Not many people would show up at the Met Gala with a replica of their own head like Jared Leto.

Clad in Gucci, the actor wore a silky red high-neck gown, complete with shoulder pads and a jewel-encrusted body chain, while carrying his own head on the Met Gala red carpet.
But Jared wasn’t the first to do so. He simply recreated the moment, which was performed by Gucci a while back.
3. Katy Perry

Her thigh-high gold boots and shiny golden dress gave off all the angelic and celestial vibes.
Katy even got into character when she took a moment to get into a prayer pose at the steps of the Met Gala.
2. Lil Nas X
Year: 2021
Theme: “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”
In his first time attending the Met Gala, Lil Nas certainly made a stellar debut.

The rapper was clad in not one but three grandiose outfits designed by Donatella Versace.
The first was an ornate gold cape that hid a golden suit of armor underneath, which the star further shed to reveal a slithered-out skinny bodysuit.

Perhaps the most eccentrically dressed person in the 2019 Met Gala, the Gala’s camp theme was tailor-made for Lady Gaga.

Never failing to find the balance between dazzling and over the top, the Oscar-winning musical sensation arrived at the even engulfed in a hot pink cape gown designed by Brendon Maxwell.
Gaga went on to shed her elaborate train and bow, revealing a series of other dresses underneath, giving off the effects of a Russian doll.
