Lauretta was the mother of Dr. Devon Hoover, a renowned neurosurgery specialist based in Detroit, Michigan.

Hoover was the daughter of Harvey W. Ramer and Selina Ramer. She was born on October 23, 1942, in New Paris, Indiana. She was 80 years old when she passed away.

Lauretta was a homemaker who taught at Harrison Christian School and ran her own wallpapering business.

In addition to her professional pursuits, she was an active member of the Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church. There she was, a lifetime member. She found great joy in singing with the Joyful Spirits Choir, a testament to her love of music and community involvement.

Her son, Dr. Devon Hoover, completed his medical training at Indiana University School of Medicine after finishing his prestigious Henry Ford Hospital residency.

Unfortunately, Dr. Hoover’s life was tragically cut short at 53. On April 23, he was found in the attic of his historic home in Detroit’s Boston-Edison District. He was wrapped in a plastic sheet. Later, his car was found abandoned on the city’s west side.

While the circumstances of his death remain unclear, authorities initially speculated that it resulted from a domestic dispute.

However, Police believe an unknown suspect broke into Dr. Hoover’s unoccupied home between April 29th and 30th. The break-in may or may not be connected to his murder, and the investigation is ongoing.

She married Clarence Hoover on June 10, 1962, and they had a large and loving family with seven children.
