His grandfather Buddy Bennet was native to Jesup, Georgia and played quarterback leading the Gamecocks in 1960. His coaching career of Buddy started at Waycross High school, then at Georgia Tech, and later at South Caroline in the college ranks.
In 2016 Buddy Bennett, grandfather of Stetson Bennet IV, died at the age of 78 in his family home in Screven, Georgia.
