Despite his prominence in the music industry, the late musician Robbie Robertson’s religion has not been made clear, unlike his ethnic background. 

Talking about his ethnic background, it’s fascinating that he was born to a Jewish father and a Mohawk mother, giving him a unique blend of cultural heritage.

Rosemarie Dolly Chrysler, his mother, was born in 1922 and was reared on the Six Nations Reservation in Ontario, to the southwest of Toronto.

Robbie’s mom had resided with an aunt in the Cabbagetown area of Toronto and worked at the Coro jewelry polishing factory.

As reported by Forward, Robbie never met his Jewish father, Alexander David Klegerman, who died in a roadside accident before his birth.

This revelation about his father’s existence only came to Robertson’s knowledge years later, during his early teens.

In 1942, his mother had since married a factory worker, James Robertson, whom Robbie at first believed was his biological parent.

Furthermore, Robbie’s family background is fascinating as we discover his father’s family. His uncles, Natie and Morrie Klegerman, were prominent members of Toronto’s Jewish underworld.

When discussing Robbie Robertson’s family life, he was a married man. 

At a youthful, he exchanged vows with Dominique Bourgeois in a heartfelt ceremony held in March 1967.

Robertson’s wife was a professional journalist based in Canada.

Despite their promising start, this marriage didn’t last long, leading to their eventual divorce after becoming parents.

After their separation, he had several relationships, but the one that became public was with Janet Zuccarini.

She is a Canadian restaurant owner, businesswoman, and Top Chef Canada judge.
