Tekashi 6ix9ine was born to his parents, Daniel Hernandez Sr. and Natividad Perez-Hernandez, on May 8, 1996, in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York City.

His mother hails from Atlixco, Puebla, Mexico, where she used to work as an industrial team member while also doing part-time housecleaning jobs before moving to the U.S. to seek better opportunities for her family back in ’88.

On the other hand, his Father has roots in Río Piedras, San Juan, Puerto Rico. Despite being involved with his son until the age of nine, he had an erratic life due to drug-related offenses, which led him to be incarcerated for five long years.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t just limited to his Father when it came down to tragedy striking within Tekashi’s immediate family; back in 2010, his stepfather -also of Puerto Rican descent -was gunned down near their family House, leaving deep wounds that still linger.

The affair dealt a severe blow to the family’s financial and emotional coping. With limited resources, Tekashi’s mother resorted to applying for financial aid from welfare institutions.

Life was not easy for them as they experienced episodes of poverty, where hunger was not uncommon before bedtime struck. Used clothing was their only option, often crammed in small spaces with little privacy.
