Before having a shower and going to bed, Hazel shot his wife in the head with a shotgun, returned home, and shot his two little children.

Just days before his scheduled trial on August 18, 2020, he entered a plea of guilty to three charges of first-degree murder and was given three life sentences with a chance of parole.

The murderer’s release date is March 19, 2136, so he is now incarcerated at the Trousdale Turner Correctional Center in Trousdale County, Tennessee.

Jordan Hazel’s crime was the murder of his wide Keara and their two young children in their home in September 2017 in Tennessee. He shot his wife in the head with a shotgun and then returned home to shoot his two young children before showering and going to bed.

Officers were horrified by the violence when they got to the crime scene because Keara was dead and propped up against furniture in her bedroom. There were also blood and tissues all over the walls.

The police, who arrived at the scene, initially believed that the kids were still alive. They did not have to wait long to realize their error, though.

The officers discovered Kayden’s body wrapped under a blanket in the hallway, while Jaylynn was discovered dead in her crib. According to autopsy records, each of the three fatalities had been shot twice, with Keara receiving head and neck wounds.

Since Jordan was the one who opened the door for his mother-in-law and declared, “It’s done, and it’s over,” the police did not need to look into the murder. 

They responded to a 911 call and arrived at about 10:48 am. They apprehended him just outside of his home.

Jordan reportedly told Detective Fred McClintock that he had killed his wife and children after being escorted to the station. On September 13, 2017, he left his residence to pick up a shotgun he had left at a friend’s house.

Jordan Hazel Case Details

Jordan Hazel only offered the authorities the excuse that she had been having financial difficulties, adding, “I was thinking it (the murders) would solve problems for everybody” and “I would get my life back.”

He was charged with three counts of premeditated first-degree murder, and his defense attorney argues that he was mentally disturbed and raised concerns about his competency.

He faced a mental competency hearing on June 9, 2020, and was found mentally competent.

Just days before his trial began, on August 18, 2020, Jordon pleaded guilty to three counts of murder and accepted life terms with the possibility of parole.

His sentence was lowered as a part of a plea agreement to two consecutive life sentences to be served concurrently.

Furthermore, the sentence stipulated that the man must serve two terms totaling 55 or 110 years before becoming eligible for parole.

According to court documents, he is serving his time at the Trousdale Turner Correctional Center in Trousdale County, Tennessee, and his release date is March 19, 2136.

Jordan Hazel Victim Identities

Jordan’s victims were his wife, Keara and his children,  Jaylynn and Kayden. Kearam, his wife, was born on March 11, 1994, in Frankin, Tennessee. 

Karen Griffin, her mother, noted how sympathetic her daughter was, saying that she listened to and prayed for anyone going through a difficult period.

Keara dated Jordan Micheal Hazel for a year before falling pregnant after meeting him in college.

Soon later, the pair were married and moved into a home at 221 Mills Drive in Clarksville. Keara gave birth to a son named Kayden on July 29, 2014. Karen recalled what a sweet child he had been “with an old soul.”

A few years later, on December 12, 2016, Keara gave birth to their second child, Jaylynn. Karen described him as a contented cuddly infant, with her siblings being inseparable.
