Although Choinski has embarked his career in the sports world, Jan Choinski’s parents were professional ballet dancers.
His mother, Dominique, was born in Singapore as the daughter of a naval officer.
Later, she moved to Southampton on the southern coast of England to settle down.
After moving to England, Dominique joined the prestigious Royal Ballet in London to be a dancer.
Following her dancing journey, she ventured to Germany, where she encountered Choinski’s father, Andrzej.
Although Andrzej works as a coach for his son nowadays, he was a professional dancer at that time.
As they were in the same dance group in Germany, the two ignited the chemistry between them and gradually tied the knot.
Hence, the rising tennis player grew up in Germany alongside his dancer parents.
Furthermore, talking about his parents, Jan said, “I danced at my parents’ ballet school until I was 12.”
He added, “But it was never in my mind to become a professional ballet dancer. It was a way of building myself up for tennis.”

Jan said, “Having a British mum and playing the tournament that she lives the most for and having her here, I’m really thankful for that.”
