Sabrina was born in Walnut Creek, California, on December 6, 1997.

She was born to Romanian-American parents, Dan Lonescu and Liliana Blaj. She has two brothers: twin brother Edward and another Andrei Ionescu.

The twin brother Edward (“Eddy”) was born 18 minutes after her. Eddy is also a basketball player. He played basketball at City College of San Francisco. Later, he was transferred to Oregon Ducks and played for them like his sister.

Eddy recorded an average of 6.0 points per game in his first year in 2016-17, and as a sophomore, he recorded 9.9 points per outing in 2017-18.

Ionescu’s impressive performances throughout college included one Pac-12 record, two less than the NCAA record, and four triple-doubles. She broke the NCAA triple-double record for women’s and men’s basketball.

After becoming eligible in 2019, Ionescu joined the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and continued to show her impressive talents.

In May 2021, she recorded her first professional triple-double with 12 assists, 26 points, and ten rebounds. As a result, she became the youngest player in WNBA history to achieve a triple-double.
