Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, also known as AKA, is a rapper from South Africa. He gained fame and popularity after releasing his single “Victory Lap” from his singles debut album Altar Ego in 2010.

In 2018, Forbes was featured as a special guest on the WWE Live event held in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Jarryd created a hip-hop group named Entity with his two friends, Vice Versa and Greyhound, in 2002. They would later be nominated in the Best African Hip-Hop category for KORA Awards.

AKA disbanded the group Entity and enrolled in sound engineering in 2006.

One of South Africa’s leading rappers, AKA, was with his close friend Tebello Motsoane the chef and entrepreneur, the night they were killed.

They headed to a nightclub to sing and perform as part of Forbe’s birthday celebration.

Some CCTV footage has been released where the two armed men are approaching Tibz and Kieran, who shot them dead at close range.

CCTV footage shows after the shooting. The assailants fled the scene on foot. Despite having footage of the night, revealing the killer’s identity is not good enough.

Forbes’s parents, Tony and Lynn Forbes, wrote on his social media, “It is with extreme sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our beloved son,” and confirmed his untimely and tragic death on February 10, 2023 evening.

As of now, there is no accurate information on who the killer is and how he looks. Police officers are trying to investigate the case and find out who the shooter is.

The killers are on the run and have not yet been caught by the police as they are still investigating the case and looking for a different perspective for the reason for the murder.

Jarryd was born on January 28, 1988, in Cape Town, South Africa. The rapper was 36 years old when he was killed.

No autopsy report is available as of now, as it has not been released publicly by the police. Despite not having the report, we can say that his death was due to a point-blank gunshot.

A spokeswoman for ALS Paramedics, Garrith Jamieson, stated that both men had gunshot wounds, and one of them died from the wounds despite giving the best attempts from the medical team to save him.

As of now, the police are investigating the motive for killing them. They don’t want to speculate on murders as the result of a hit but said there is a possibility they cannot be ruled out.

Forbes began his musical career as part of a group called Entity before he started his solo career and won several awards for music in the South African music industry.

He has won several awards and been nominated for different awards, such as the BET Awards and an MTV EMA, and he even won the Kid’s Choice Award in 2019.

Rapper’s last post on his Instagram account was a promotion of his upcoming album and a few pictures of the studio where he worked.
