Reportedly, American gospel singer Eric Reed passed away on 25 June 2023. Sadly, the singer/ composer died at 56 while on his way to church in his adopted home city of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Not much has been reported regarding his death as Reed’s family seems extremely private while revealing the facts surrounding the sorrowful incident.
As suggested by Buffalo News, the gospel musician took his last breath on his way to the church. However, the cause of his death has not been mentioned.
In an interview with WRTI, before his death, Reed had an in-depth conversation revealing the satisfaction he got from music.

American jazz pianist and composer Eric Scott Reed was born on 21 June 1970. The man rose to prominence for being a member of the group Black Note, releasing several hit albums in the 1990s.
Hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the gospel artist began playing piano at age two.
Reportedly, Reed, as a 2-year-old child, shocked everyone with his piano skills, playing the instrument in his minister’s father’s church.
When he turned five, he began playing with his father. Eventually, Eric attended Philadelphia’s Settlement Music School.
He, with his family, shifted to Los Angeles. Eleven years old at the time, Reed joined the R. D. Colburn School of Arts.
There, he met Wynton Marsalis, and this encounter greatly aided his career from 1986 onwards.
As he turned 18, Reed attended California State University, Northridge.
The gospel singer participated in Marsalis’s septet in 1990 and worked with him for a year. Impressed with his talent, he worked there from 1992 to 1995.
Moreover, Reed performed at the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra for two years, beginning from 1996 to 1998. Hence, this gave him the confidence to lead his own group in 1999.
