Amanpour had canceled the interview with the Iranian President as she refused to wear a hijab.
On September 21, the President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi interviewed a schedule in New York with Amanpour, and she was asked to wear a hijab as a matter of faith and respect.
Still, she kindly declined the request and said, ” I politely declined, We are in New York, where there is no laws or tradition regarding headscarves. I pointed out that no previous Iranian president has required this when I have interviewed them outside Iran.”
Similarly, a Reddit post by John Geare says she is a Catholic girl because her wedding was performed by a Catholic priest Ambrose O’Farrell at the Santo Stefano, Bracciano, Italy. The post reads,” My opinion is that a Catholic priest would not wed a non-Catholic, so if Christiane was not Catholic, she could not have been married in the Catholic church. Thus I conclude that she is a ‘Catholic girl’.”

The British host’s parents are Patricia Amanpor and Mohammad Amanpour. Her father was born to a wealthy family, and he met her mother when she was traveling to Iran. They raised their daughter in England and Iran, so she is fluent in Persian and English.
The British journalist finished most of her primary schooling in Tehran, and she was sent to a Holy Cross Convent a boarding school in England at 11. The family did not return to Iran and decided to stay in England due to the Iran-Iraq war. In 1983 she graduated from University with a B.A. degree in journalism.
Furthermore, she got her CNN job in 1983 as an entry-level desk assistant, and her first major task was to cover the Iran-Iraq war. She frequently got these types of assignments, so she got the name fearless.
