Stevie Branch Murder Case Update

On May 5, 1993, three eight-year-old boys from West Memphis, Arkansas, were reported missing. One of them was Stevie Branch.

He went missing with his two best friends, Christopher Byers and Michael Moore. According to three neighbors’ statements, they last saw the boys together playing around 6:30 p.m. on the evening that they vanished.

On the afternoon of May 6, 1993, Stevie’s body was found, along with that of his friend. His cause of death was stated to be a multipole injury with drowning.

Jason Baldwin, Damien Echols, and Jessie Misskelley Jr. were detained as suspects in the murder. In 1994, Echols and Baldwin were tried together, while Misskelley was tried separately.

The prosecution claimed during the trial that the juveniles killed the kids as part of a Satanic ritual. Echols, Misskelley, and Baldwin provided dental impressions following their convictions. These were contrasted with alleged bite marks on Stevie Branch’s forehead, which were not mentioned in the initial autopsy or court case. There were no matches.

Invoking their innocence, Echols, Baldwin, and Misskelley entered an Alford plea on August 19, 2011.

Branch had blond hair, was 4 feet 2 inches tall, weighed 65 lbs., and was eight years old. As per the sources, he was a very good student.

In addition, he had earned the title of “wolf” in his local Cub Scout pack. Unfortunately, Stevie was murdered on May 5, 1993.
