People are confused about Tig Notaro gender, as Tig has been classified as transgender by them. 

Tig Notaro is a stand-up comedian, author, radio contributor, and actor from the United States. Her deadpan comedy is well-known. Her critically acclaimed CD Live was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album at the 56th Grammy Awards in 2014. 

At the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards, Tig Notaro: Boyish Girl Interrupted received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special.

Boyish Girl Interrupted received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Comedy Album at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards in 2017.

Her debut one-hour stand-up special, Tig Notaro: Boyish Girl Interrupted, was released by HBO in 2015. It was published in 2016 as her third studio album on her label, Bentzen Ball Records, which previously released Aparna Nancherla’s Just Putting It Out There. 

Notaro was cast as Chief Engineer Jett Reno of the USS Hiawatha in the second season of Star Trek: Discovery in April 2018.

Tig Notaro’s gender is female, and she has been frustrated by people calling her transgender. In a tweet in 2019, she claimed to be transgender, but she is not. 

The tweet came out of anger as she wrote, “I’m transgender, and I’m sick of people asking me if I’ve gotten “the surgery.” I don’t know what you think I have underneath my dress, but I’ll tell you what I don’t have. A hundred thousand dollars.”

She is a lesbian who underwent a double mastectomy due to cancer. She has a flat chest because she declined “reconstructive surgery,” which typically entails breast implants.

According to her jokes, she’s always been mistaken for a man. Tall, skinny ladies with deep voices and short hair are not unusual. Some lesbians like to appear “butch,” but many cisgender women are addressed as “sir” as well.

Tig Notaro Cancer Journey And Picture Before Cancer

On July 30, 2012, Notaro was diagnosed with breast cancer. She addressed her cancer diagnosis and other personal issues during a live stage show at Largo in Los Angeles on August 3. The set was characterized as “instantly legendary,” and several comedians praised her work.

The next day, comedian Louis C.K. called Notaro and told her he intended to share the show’s audio. Initially, she was hesitant but realized the material could benefit others, so she agreed. In October, C.K. made the concert audio available for download on his website under Live.

Notaro later made the audio available on iTunes. Notaro claimed she never imagined that Live would sell more copies than Kiss’s album Monster, which premiered the same week. She used to be a fan of the band.

According to the New York Times: “She displayed her wounds to the audience and then, by the power of her performance, made you forget they were there. It was a compelling, even inspiring, remark about survival and healing, but it had the jarring quality of a dare.” Notaro was hospitalized following a gig in Philadelphia in November 2014 and had cyst surgery.

Notaro switched to a vegan diet in 2017, which she credits with alleviating the chronic pain she had been experiencing in the years following her cancer diagnosis. She later became certified in plant-based nutrition.

The comedian is still vulnerable with her cancer, as she has been trying to cure cancer for over a decade.

Tig Notaro Partner 

She is open and proud of her lesbian identity and married to her sweetheart, Stephanie Allynne. They are both supportive and work well together as a family.

Similarly, Notaro and Allynne first met on the set of “In a World.” Shortly after falling in love, the couple was engaged on January 1, 2015, and set their wedding date for October 24, 2015.

Even after many years of friendship, both are seen holding hands at various gatherings. Her partner is also a celebrity, as she is an actress, writer, and comedian from the United States.

Stephanie had never been in a relationship with a woman before meeting Tig, but when the two met, she discovered she had feelings for the same gender.
