Gracie Prater, a resident of Flaherty, Kentucky, passed away on May 13, 2022, due to severe injuries sustained in a car accident.
The incident occurred on a highway in Flaherty, Kentucky, where Gracie was a passenger in a 2013 Ford Focus driven by a 17-year-old driver.
The Kentucky State Police say the accident happened around 3:50 pm in the 300 block of Bypass Road. It involved a 1999 Chevy Silverado trying to turn left onto Bypass Road and a 2013 Ford Focus going south.
As a result of the collision, the Ford Focus lost control, crossing the centerline into the northbound lanes, where it was struck by a Chevy pickup truck.
Despite the efforts of first responders and medical personnel, Gracie, seated in the front of the Ford Focus, tragically lost her life at the accident scene.
The driver of the car, who was 17 years old, was taken by air to the UofL Hospital with injuries that could have killed him. The other people involved in the crash were hurt less.

Gracia Prater was a 16-year-old girl who died in a car accident. As a Meade County High School sophomore, she had already significantly impacted her community.
Gracie was an exceptional student and an active member of several school organizations, including the FFA and choir. She was known for her strong work ethic and dedication to her studies.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Gracie was also an entrepreneur. She started her own Company, Soy Marvels, which produced handmade soy candles and melts.
Despite her busy schedule, Gracie easily balanced her schoolwork and business endeavors.
Gracie was a familiar face at the Meade County Farmer’s Market, where she often sold her products.
She was passionate about supporting local businesses and promoting sustainable agriculture.
Gracie also enjoyed spending time at the Hardin County Skateland, where she honed her skating skills and socialized with friends.

Gracie Prater was a beloved daughter and sister and a cherished community member. Born to Michael and Jessica Prater, Gracie had an older brother named Tyler and a younger sister named Madison. However, tragedy struck the family when Gracie died, leaving the community in mourning.
The Prater family has faced additional challenges as Gracie’s Father, Michael, has been out of work for a year due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Gracie had a large extended family who loved her dearly. Her grandparents included Bobby and Anna Bostic, Linda and Doug Lewis, and Dee Taylor and Tom Reesor. She also had an uncle, Danny Eugene Prater Jr., and an aunt, Jamie Rae Bostic. She also has cousins Jacob and Christopher Gore.
Sadly, Gracie was not the first member of the family to pass away. Her great-grandparents, Thurman and Biddy Bostic, John and Louise Morrow, and her grandfather, Danny Eugene Prater Sr., died before her.
