Kevin Hogan Brother – Who Are Pat and Frank Hogan?

Kevin Hogan has two brothers named Pat and Frank Hogan. Pat and Frank Hogan were talented footballers who followed their older brother to the big league.

Pat Hogan was a speedy rover who won the 1951 Metropolitan Football League Best and Fairest award and the South Melbourne Districts Football Club Best and Fairest award before being recruited by South Melbourne FC in 1953.

He played 10 games and kicked six goals for the Swans in 1953 and 1954 before returning to Violet Town.

He later coached Violet Town and Euroa in the Goulburn Valley Football League. He passed away in 2017 at the age of 86.

Frank Hogan was a versatile player who could be a half-back, half-forward, or ruck rover.

He played 44 games, kicked 17 goals for the Swans from 1955 to 1958 and was part of the night premiership team in 1956. 

He also represented Victoria in interstate matches. He retired from football in 1959 and became a successful businessman. He died in 2014 at the age of 81.

Kevin Hogan Parents – who are they?

Kevin Hogan was born on October 6, 1934, in Violet Town, a small town in northeastern Victoria.

His parents were John and Mary Hogan, who had nine children, including Kevin and his two brothers Pat and Frank, who also played for South Melbourne.

John Hogan was a farmer and a keen sportsman who played cricket and football for Violet Town.

He encouraged his sons to follow in his footsteps and pursue their sporting talents.

Mary Hogan was a devoted mother and a devout Catholic who raised her children with love and faith.

She supported her sons’ sporting ambitions and often traveled with them to their games.

Kevin Hogan inherited his parents’ passion for sports and started playing football at a young age.

Kevin played for Benalla Colts in 1949 and then for Violet Town until 1953 when South Melbourne recruited him.

Hogan debuted in 1954 as a rover and half-forward flanker and was quickly impressed with his skill and courage.

He played 63 games and kicked 35 goals for South Melbourne from 1954 to 1960, winning two-night premierships in 1956 and 1957.

Kevin Hogan Family Details

Kevin was married to Xavier, with whom he had eight sons and one daughter. 

He was also passionate about cricket and a prolific Sale Cricket Club batsman. He reformed the club and led it to several premierships.

Hogan’s love for sports also led him to a career as a sports broadcaster and journalist.

He worked for ABC Gippsland for over 50 years, covering local and national events with his distinctive voice and style.

Hogan died peacefully in Sale on November 5, 2019, at the age of 85. Kevin Hogan was a true legend of Gippsland sport and culture.
