She died alongside her husband,  63-year-old Gary Franklin. According to the initial investigation, homicide detectives believe one of the deceased shot themselves.

Karen was a beloved wife, mother, and friend. She was known for her kindness, warmth, and dedication to family.

Her sudden passing has left a profound void in the hearts of those who knew her.

Friends, family, and former classmates have flooded social media with tributes, recalling her radiant smile, compassionate nature, and eagerness to help others.

She previously worked at Pikesville Jewelry and Coin, USHEALTH Advisors, Custom Electronic Services, Woodhome Insurance Grp, Donadio Insurance Group, Heller Kowitz Insurance Advisors, and Optavia.

She had a gift for making people feel valued by offering a listening ear or brightening someone’s day with her infectious positivity.

The Owings Mills community, nestled in Baltimore County, is in deep mourning following the tragic and senseless death of Karen Halle Franklin, who was fatally shot on the afternoon of April 1, 2025, in an apparent act of domestic violence.
