In fact, Hawkins stood out among all players in the West Regional and was named the Most Outstanding Player.

During the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight games, he averaged 22 points and pulled down four rebounds per game.

In his freshman year, Hawkins endured a concussion towards the end of the season, causing him to sit out the crucial Big East and NCAA tournaments.

It was undoubtedly a disappointing setback for both Hawkins and his team.

Unfortunately, the concussion troubles continued into his sophomore year. During UConn’s season opener, Hawkins suffered a second concussion, further hindering his ability to contribute on the court.

In addition to his concussion-related setbacks, Hawkins also encountered an unfortunate non-COVID illness that affected his availability during the Final Four in Houston in March 2023.

Jordan Hawkins Health Update

Jordan Hawkins is in good condition and has returned to the game. After facing some health concerns, Hawkins successfully recovered and was able to rejoin his team on the court. 

The news of Hawkins’ improved health brought relief and optimism to the team and their fans. With his health restored, Hawkins could focus on contributing to the team’s success again.

Jordan Hawkins represented the UConn Huskies in the Big East Conference. He was born on April 29, 2002, and grew up in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Initially, he attended Gaithersburg High School before transferring to DeMatha Catholic High School in his sophomore year.

Hawkins’ exceptional skills on the court earned him recognition as the Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year during his senior year of high school.

He displayed an impressive all-around game, averaging 19.7 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.9 blocks per game.

In his freshman year, Hawkins played in 27 games for the Huskies, contributing 5.8 points and two rebounds per game.

His promising performances led to his Big East Conference All-Freshman team selection. Unfortunately, he experienced a concussion near the end of the season, causing him to miss important tournaments.

Continuing into his sophomore season, Hawkins assumed the role of the Huskies’ starting shooting guard. Hawkins’ impact on the court was further highlighted in the 2023 NCAA tournament.

In the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight games, he averaged 22 points and four rebounds. In the national championship game against San Diego State, Hawkins contributed 16 points, helping the Huskies secure a 76-59 victory.

Following the championship game, Hawkins made the decision to forego the remainder of his college eligibility and enter the 2023 NBA draft. 

His remarkable college career and standout performances have positioned him as a promising prospect for the next level.

Jordan Hawkins’ career with the UConn men’s basketball team may be over, but his impact on the program will be felt for years to come.
