The Australian singing icon was born on born July 1, 1949, in  Dagenham, England, to John Peter Farnham Sr., and Rose Farnham.

Prior to his family migrating to Australia in 1959 to settle in Melbourne, Victoria, he spent his first ten years there with his sisters, Jean and Jacqueline, and younger brother, Steven. He went to school at Lyndale High School, Lyndale Primary School, and Yarraman Park State School, which is now Yarraman Oaks Primary School.

Farnham has received numerous honors and accolades, including the “Australian of the Year award in 1987,” the “Officer of the Order of Australia medal in 1996,” “19 ARIA Awards,” and the “Hall of Fame admission in 2003.” He appeared on stage in lead roles in Australian plays and was awarded the “King of Pop” for five years running.
