According to the available information, the young teenager left his home early on Monday morning, driving the family’s vehicle, which was later found abandoned near the park along U.S. Highway 12 on the same day.

The last sighting of James occurred on Sunday, June 11, 2023, when his parents saw him at their rural Sauk County residence. He was last seen dressed in a white T-shirt, blue jeans, and red shoes.

In the days following his disappearance, authorities launched an extensive search for the teenager. However, after nearly a week, they decided to scale back their efforts, suspecting that James was intentionally avoiding being found.

Continuing the search, authorities revealed that on Friday, June 16, a second campsite was discovered in the Baxter’s Hollow area of the Baraboo Bluffs, near Devil’s Lake State Park.

James’ father, Bill, expressed his heartfelt plea, saying, “I hope he knows that we love him and we just want him home and safe.”

According to the latest update on the case of James Yablonski, the missing 13-year-old boy from Baraboo, Wisconsin, authorities now believe that he is alive and intentionally trying to live “off the grid.”

Sauk County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Steven Schram stated that investigators had developed a profile of James Yablonski that suggests he is acting with a purpose.

During the search operation, investigators located his cell phone and two campsites, as well as various articles of clothing believed to belong to James, within the densely wooded area.

Lt. Schram revealed that the teen is believed to be carrying two woodland survival manuals, and evidence found during the search aligns with the instructions provided in these manuals.

Search crews are now aiming to reduce their visible impact in the search area, which encompasses challenging terrain around the Baraboo Bluffs.
