Just two weeks later, Green replaced an injured Beneil Dariush to fight Islam Makhachev at UFC Fight Night 202 on February 26, 2022 but lost the fight via ground-and-pound TKO in the first round.

He was scheduled to fight Jim Miller for the third time at UFC 276 on July 2, 2022, but had to withdraw from the fight a week before the event.

Bobby was suspended for six months by USADA on May 16, 2022, for testing positive for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in an out-of-competition drug test, making him eligible to fight again on November 16, 2022.
