Gretchen is the eldest daughter of Linda Kinney and Michael Kinney. She grew up with her two sisters and a half-sister from her dad’s earlier marriage.
Sadly, her parents divorced when she was only seven, but she still maintains a good relationship with them.
Her father settled in Utah, whereas her mother lived with two younger sisters in Sacramento.
Conversely, Gavin, born on October 10, 1967, is the son of William Alfred Newsom III and Tessa Thomas.
He is a fourth-generation San Francisca and grew up with his sister, Hilary Newsom Callan.
