It’s unclear when they split up, but they had been living in different houses less than a mile apart in Maple Grove, Minnesota.

 Brian Thompson spent $1 million in 2018 to purchase a second home near his wife and boys.

Pauley told NBC News that after her husband passed away, Brian had been threatened by people who were upset over a “lack of [healthcare] coverage.”

She stated,

‘There had been some threats. Basically, I don’t know, a lack of coverage? I don’t know details. I just know that he said there were some people that had been threatening him.

She said that the police informed her that the attack was “planned” and continued,

‘I can’t really give a thoughtful response right now. I just found this out and I’m trying to console my children.’

Paulette said that she was horrified to hear of the shooting dead after her husband passed away.

In a statement, she added, 

“Brian was a very talented, giving, and loving man who lived life to the fullest and touched so many lives. Above all, Brian will be sorely missed because he was a very devoted father to our two boys.”
