Many fans have wondered about one-time Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes as she has taken an extended time away from the limelight.

She started her career as a child, appearing on the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series All That from 1996 to 2000 and its spin-off series The Amanda Show from 1999 to 2002.

Bynes started professionally acting at age 7, appearing in a TV advertisement for Buncha Crunch candies, Cut and Style Barbie, and Taco Bell.

In 2006, she was named one of Teen People’s “25 Hottest Stars Under 25.” In 2007, she starred as Penny Pingleton, a sheltered young girl, in the musical comedy Hairspray.

She was set to appear in the comedy Post Grad, but she dropped out and was replaced by Alexis Bledel amid rumors that she was having difficulties.

Amanda Bynes Addressed That She Is Doing A Lot Better Now

Amanda Bynes struggled with alcohol and substance abuse issues and landed herself in some legal hot water with multiple violations.

She had been in treatment for several years prior, and a judge ruled that the conservatorship was no longer necessary.

In 2017, Amanda was a guest on Goff Morning America, where she expressed an inclination to give acting another go

“I do miss acting and I actually have something surprising to tell you, I’m going to start acting again.”

She was set to appear along with her All That cast mates for a reunion, which would be her first public appearance since the dissolution of her conservatorship.

However, her struggles with mental health seemed to have gotten the best of her.

Shortly, she was admitted to a psychiatric hospital after she was found with no clothes on. In May 2020, Bynes revealed that she had spent two months in treatment.

Her lawyer said she was seeking treatment for ongoing mental health issues and debunked rumors that she was suffering from chemical or alcohol addiction issues.

On her official Instagram handle, she wrote

“Worked on coping skills to help with my social anxiety that caused me to drop out of school months ago,”  “Back on track and doing well! I’m now living in transitional living and doing therapy during the week.”

In late 2023, she took another stab at capturing the spotlight when she announced a podcast: Amanda Bynes & Paul Sieminski: The Podcast.

Since then, she has kept her fans updated through Instagram posts. In a story published in March 2024, she clarified that she is doing much better now.

Bynes has been mostly quiet, posting infrequent updates on her Instagram handle. She is living in New York, United States, with her family.
