Ty Reik McCullough, 17, and Travis McCullough, 16, both of Tuskegee, were named as the suspects. Brothers named McCullough reside in Tuskegee.

According to the press statement, officers arrested the brothers Tuesday night at about 8 o’clock.

The birthday celebration was for Alexis Dowdell, according to the district attorney.

Latonya Allen, Dowdell’s mother, who was shot twice, told ABC earlier this week that the gunshot caused partygoers to flee, hide, and weep.

The dance studio was where Phil Dowdell was discovered. Allen also told how, ‘Alexis, she got on her knees and was holding him.’ 

Alexis Dowdell said that as the gunfire began, her brother threw her to the ground and saved her life.
