Steven had an interest in ice hockey since a young age. He started his career by playing for the Markham Waxers in the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA).
He was selected as the first overall by Tampa Bay Lighting in 2008. Since the beginning of his career, he has been one of the top scorers in the league.
He has won awards for the NHL leading goal scorer and also for his community work NHL Foundation Player Award.
He has represented Canada on many international platforms leading him to win gold medals for his contribution to the field.
