The natural cause of Satterfield’s death was ruled out. However, no medical examiner was called, and no autopsy was performed.
The maid’s body was supposed to be excavated in June 2022 because her death was never reported to the authorities. It is being done to undertake extra investigations to determine whether her death was accidental or not.
There are currently no updates on the development of the exhumation. Exhumation is used to execute tests on the deceased that were not conducted before burial.
Regarding the autopsy photographs, none have yet been made public because the postmortem has not yet been conducted.

Gloria Satterfield-How Did She Die?
Many speculations were made as to how she died. Gloria’s family members were told she stumbled over the Murdaugh family dogs on the staircase, fell backward, struck her head forcefully, and died, according to the documentary series. Unfortunately, she died on February 26, 2018, due to the consequences of the injury.
According to the document presented in Murdaugh Murders, Gloria Satterfield died on February 26, 2018, at 57. She was involved in an automobile accident before her death from the staircase incident, but she was never examined for it.

Gloria Satterfield Case Details-Explored
The family’s maid allegedly stumbled and fell down the front steps at the family’s Moselle property in Murdaughs, Colleton County, sustaining serious injuries that led to her death later that month.
In an interview for the series, Scott, Ginger, and Eric, Gloria’s siblings, revealed that their sister wasn’t responding to them the entire time she was in the hospital.
Alex Murdaugh allegedly urged the housemaid’s two sons, Michael Anthony and Brian “Little B” Harriott, to prosecute him for their mother’s wrongful death after her tragedy. Murdaugh’s insurance company agreed to a $500,000 payment for the sons. Nonetheless, they never received the money.
Alex allegedly received over $4.3 million from the insurance claim relating to her death on the Murdaughs’ farm about a month before she passed away. The two boys were unaware of the death settlement until it was reported in the newspaper.
Two Satterfield family attorneys also filmed for the documentary, Eric Bland and Ronnie Richter, visited the Murdaughs to learn more about what was going on and where the money went.
They finally discovered that Alex had taken the money, totaling more than $4 million, intended for Gloria’s family.
One of the maidservant’s sons, Michael, stated in Mr. Alex’s murder trial for the murders of Paul and Maggie in February 2023 that Alex had taken the money.
Michael had previously testified in June 2021 that his family had heard their case had been settled; however, Murdaugh did not mention that he had collected on two settlements, one for more than $500,000 and another for $3.8 million.
According to one of the Satterfield family’s attorneys, the fraudster apologized to the grieving family and agreed to a $4.3 million settlement with them in December 2021.
Murdaugh is currently charged with 71 offenses, as per the state grand jury indictment.
