Russell Westbrook

What Happened to Russell Westbrook during the match against Denver Nuggets Has been gathering interest from NBA fans. It looks like the potential player has dislocated his pinky finger.

Russell Westbrook was born in 1998 in a beautiful city in Los Angeles country. He is an American basketball player who competes professionally for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Growing up in Hawthorne, Westbrook and his best friend Khelcey Barrs III hoped to attend UCLA and play together. Unfortunately, Barrs passed away from an enlarged heart while playing pickup basketball in May 2004.

After the death of his best friend, the American basketball player was more determined to reach his goal. He didn’t get his first college recruiting letter until the summer before his senior year.

In his senior year, he recorded 14 double-doubles. Similarly, the player was signed by coach Ben Howland to play for the UCLA Bruins. While waiting for Jordan Farmar of the Bruins to go early for the NBA and open a scholarship, Westbrook turned down other offers.

Later, the NBA basketball player was selected as the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NBA (National Basketball Association) draft.

Moreover, the worst one was his acute injury while playing against the Houston Rockets in 2013, when, tragically, the opponent struck Westbrook’s right knee. Eventually, an MRI revealed Westbrook’s right knee had a torn meniscus, necessitating surgery. He missed the first three games of the season due to the incident.

Nevertheless, the athlete recovered from the operation and played 25 matches for the Oklahoma City Thunder before his knee injury caused swelling. He missed the rest of the season, missing 28 games.

Why Was Russell Westbrook Traded?

Utah traded Russell Westbrook to the Lakers because it seems like the player had some issues with his teammates and was unable to adjust.

According to The New York Times, Before the 2021–22 season, the Lakers obtained Westbrook in a trade from the Washington Wizards. The Lakers traded several players who were essential to their 2020 championship run to acquire Westbrook.

However, It appears that the former most valuable player needed help getting used to coming off the bench and not being the main ballhandler. Professional athletes used to put on a good show and quickly fill the stands. In 2009, soon after his debut season, the NBA basketball player achieved his first triple-double of his career with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.

Similarly, the player scored 10 points and dished out a career-high 16 assists on April 4, 2010, as the Minnesota Timberwolves were defeated 116-108.

Three times in four years, Russell averaged a triple-double. It appears that the triple-double machine has become a media obsession.

Along with that, the athletic career draft has also been declining. Some think that the player is playing selfishly rather than for the team.
