The highly-touted UCONN basketball recruits Jordan has been making headlines recently, but not for his on-court prowess. While the specifics of Jordan Hawkins illness have not been disclosed, it has been confirmed that he is currently dealing with a health issue.

Jordan Hawkins is a freshman University of Connecticut men’s basketball team basketball player.

Hawkins is a 6’5″ shooting guard who was a top 50 recruit in the 2021 class. He chose UConn over offers from several other top basketball programs, including Maryland, Villanova, and Virginia.

Jordan is known for his scoring ability, athleticism, and defensive intensity and is expected to be a pivotal contributor to UConn in the coming years.

According to UCONN coach Dan Hurley, Hawkins is not suffering from COVID-19 or serious health issues.

 Hawkins was feeling sick on Thursday night with stomach bug symptoms and was isolated from his roommate to prevent spreading the infection.

According to his coach Dan Hurley, he is being monitored by the medical staff. Hurley added that Hawkins is feeling better and hopes to resume practicing soon.

Hawkins is a highly touted recruit who joined UCONN this season. He is a 6-foot-5 sharpshooter who can play multiple positions.

He has averaged 6.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in 15.8 minutes per game, shooting 40.7 percent from the three-point line. He has also shown flashes of his defensive potential and athleticism.

Hawkins is expected to be a key contributor for the Huskies, who are ranked No. 20 in the nation and have a 10-3 record.

Jordan Hawkins Health update

Hawkins is fine and participated in Saturday’s pregame shoot-around and hit a 3-pointer on the first possession of the game against Miami in the Final Four.

He scored 13 points, including three 3s, and played 25 minutes in UConn’s 72-59 win over the Hurricanes. He said he felt better as the game went on and was confident he would play despite feeling awful on Friday.

Hawkins stated that he doesn’t know if he got food poisoning or just caught a bug, but he blamed his calamari dinner on Thursday night for his illness.

This is UConn’s sixth Final Four appearance and its first since 2014 when it won its fourth title under coach Kevin Ollie.

This year, under coach Dan Hurley, who took over in 2018, the Huskies have restored their reputation as a powerhouse program after missing the tournament for four straight years.

He has overcome adversity and illness to lead his team to the brink of glory. He is not sick anymore and is ready to make history.

Jordan Hawkins Family details

Jordan was born on June 12, 2003, in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He is the son of Jasmine and Craig Hawkins.  His parents encouraged him to pursue his dreams and have been the support he needed.

He has two older sisters, Alexis and Chynna, and a younger sister, Paris. However, there is not much information about his family as of now. It seems Jordan likes to keep his personal life private.

Jordan attended Gaithersburg High School for his freshman year, averaging 18 points per game and earning All-Met honors.

He then transferred to DeMatha Catholic High School, one of the most prestigious basketball programs in the country.

 He played under legendary coach Mike Jones and alongside other top prospects. In his junior year, he helped DeMatha win two WCAC titles and a national championship.

Hawkins also participated in various showcases and camps, such as the Pangos All-American Camp and the NBPA Top 100 Camp.

Jordan is majoring in communications and hopes to pursue a career in broadcasting after his basketball career. He is also interested in music and fashion and enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
