The vehicle wreck happened at 4 AM near the intersection of N.C. 58 and U.S. 264 Alternate. Travis Ruffin was driving a 2011 Dodge Charger at a dangerous speed of over 100 mph which made him lose control of the car.

The car flipped over several times before hitting a ditch and Ruffin was ejected out of the car through the sunroof which resulted in serious injury. Upon arrival at the Wilson Medical Center, Ruffin was pronounced dead.
