After they failed to return from their hiking expedition, which was expected to finish on Sunday, March 12, Kane County deputies launched a search and rescue operation on Monday, March 13.

Orthopedic physician Dr. Jeffrey Watson graduated with military distinction from the United States Air Force Academy as the best student in his squadron.

He occupied the highest squadron leadership post every year as a student at the Academy, and he finished his time there as the commander in charge of more than 100 cadets.
