Ruth Katrin Gemmell is an English actress who first gained recognition for her performance in the 1997 film Fever Pitch. She then went on to play supporting roles in the television programs EastEnders, Casualty, Home Fires, and Penny Dreadful.
Since 2004 she has portrayed Carly Beaker, the mother of the Tracy Beaker character. She started starring in the Netflix series Bridgerton in 2020 as Lady Violet Bridgerton.

Gemmell married actor Ray Stevenson in Westminster, London, in 1997 after meeting him in 1995 while they were both working on the TV drama Band of Gold. In Peak Practice (1997), they later portrayed a married couple.
After eight years of marriage, the couple filed for divorce in 2005. A Northern Irish actor by the name of George Raymond Stevenson. He is well-known for his roles as Dagonet in the 2004 movie King Arthur and Titus Pullo in the 2005–2007 seasons of the BBC/HBO television series Rome.b
He has played two Marvel Comics characters: Volstagg in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (2011–2017) and Frank Castle/The Punisher in Punisher: War Zone (2008) and The Super Hero Squad Show.
His other movies include The Three Musketeers, Kill the Irishman (2011), and RRR (2022), where he played the evil Governor Scott. In Kill the Irishman (2011), he played mobster Danny Greene.
His television performances include Blackbeard in Black Sails’ third and fourth seasons, the Ukrainian gangster Isaak Sirko in Dexter’s seventh season, and Gar Saxon in Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The Bridgerton has made three appearances in the police drama Waking the Dead on the BBC, portraying two distinct characters each time. She made her debut in the 2002 episode Special Relationships as DI Jess Worral, DSI Boyd’s former lover. The second time she made an appearance was in the 2008 episode Sins of the seventh season as the brilliant serial killer Linda Cummings.
