The cause of death is not mentioned, and it is unknown. It is sure that he died because of his health issues.

Gary Rossington health issues
Rossington has faced several health issues, including several heart problems.
In 2003, he underwent a successful quintuple bypass operation, which allowed him to recover from his open heart surgery.
However, his struggles with heart health continued, and in October 2015, he suffered a heart attack that led to the cancellation of two Lynyrd Skynyrd concerts.
Despite these setbacks, Rossington remained determined to continue performing with the band.
In 2021, he was able to recover from emergency heart surgery that occurred during the Big Wheels Keep on Turnin’ Tour.
Throughout his career, he has also had a history of experiencing heart attacks on stage.
In 1977, Rossington was in a plane crash. A band member was on the chartered plane from a show towards Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The show took place in Greenville, South Carolina. Due to a lack of fuel, the plane crashed into the forest.
The crash happened three days after the release of their fifth studio album, “Street Survivors.”
The plane crash resulted in the loss of several band members, including Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines, backup singer Cassie Gaines, Steve Gaines’ sister, and a road manager.

Gary Rossington was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on December 4, 1951. He died at the age of 71.
His Father passed away shortly after his birth, leaving his mother, Berniece, to raise him on her own.
Rossington remained close to his mother throughout his life, and he even named his first guitar “Berniece” in her honor.
As a child, Rossington was passionate about basketball and dreamed of playing for the New York Yankees. However, he eventually found his calling in music and became the founding member of Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Rossington has been married to Dale Krantz-Rossington, a backup singer for Lynyrd Skynyrd.
The couple married in 1982 and had two daughters, one of whom is Mary Elizabeth Rossington. However, information about his other daughter has yet to be widely known.
