The club praised him as a model player, stating that he embodied the ideal qualities of a Parkland ice hockey player.

August was described as a player who demonstrated a love for the sport of hockey through his smile and was known for his hard work.

He had a strong sense of teamwork, all of which made him a valued teammate and a great coach.

He was given the nickname ‘Gus the Bus’ for his unique style of play. The Phantoms team, in addition to the Parkland High School Hockey Club, took to social media to praise him as a dedicated and intelligent player.

According to the organizers of the GoFundMe campaign, Jodi, August’s mother, has devoted her life to raising her three children, including August, Lara, and Natalie.

Despite her own aspirations for a career and education, she chose to prioritize her children’s needs and never missed any of their activities. August Schwart would have celebrated his 21st birthday on December 31st.
