Nicholas was born to Fran and Amy Sirianni on June 15, 1981. His father is originally from Kane, Pennsylvania, Whereas his mother is from Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania.

The Philadelphia coach’s father battled cancer twice, once when he was four years old and again when he was eight.

After witnessing his father’s struggle with cancer and his father’s efforts to fight the disease, John learned to deal with issues with a strong mentality.

Nicholas has two older brothers. They are Jay and Mike Sirriani. Mike is a football coach like his younger.

He has been the football coach at Washington & Jefferson College for the past two decades.

Sirianni won three national titles in 2000, 2001, and 2002 while playing as a wideout for Division III Mount Union, where he started for three seasons.

In 2003, the former football player’s most outstanding season, he scored 52 catches for 998 yards and 13 touchdowns.

John’s coaching career began at his alma university, where he worked with the defensive backs and won another national championship in 2004 and 2005.

The American football coach spent the 2006–2008 season coaching wide receivers at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Nicholas got his big break after joining the Kansas City Chiefs as a quality control coach, where he was promoted from assistant quarterback coach to wide receiver coach between (2009-2012).

Additionally, from 2013-2017, he assisted with the coaching staff of the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers. In 2018, he was hired as offensive coordinator by the Indianapolis Colts.
