Kimi Faxon Hemingway is the sister of the acclaimed actor, comedian, and writer Nat Faxon. She is an English professor at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Kimi described an incredible experience watching her brother Nat win an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Descendants in 2011.

She watched the Academy Awards ceremony at home with friends, feeling nervous when Angelina Jolie began reading the nominees’ names.

Even after seeing Jolie mouth his brother’s name, the professor didn’t believe Nat had won until he saw him walk up on stage.

Leading up to the Oscars, Nat kept repeating, “It’s okay if we don’t win,” but was overjoyed when they did.

Hemingway recalls his brother starting out performing improv comedy at The Groundlings in Los Angeles, where he met his agent and began getting acting roles.

Wanting to play more diverse characters, Nat soon began writing his own films, which launched his acclaimed screenwriting career when Alexander Payne recruited him to adapt The Descendants.

Although acting remains Nat’s foremost passion, the Oscar brought immense recognition for his writing talent.

Since his Academy Award win, the actor has landed a lead TV role in the Fox pilot Ned Fox is My Manny and sold a script to Indian Paintbrush that he conceived with Kristen Wiig.

The English professor remains incredibly proud of his brother’s career, attributing his success to hard work, smart decisions, and being in the right place at the right time.

Nat Faxon spent his early years in the seaside community before attending Brookwood School.

He later graduated from Holderness School in New Hampshire in 1997, followed by Hamilton College.

The writer is an alumnus of the improv and sketch comedy troupe The Groundlings, where he began performing in 2001.

He may be best known for comedic film roles in movies like Orange County, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Bad Teacher, and Broken Lizard, including Beerfest.

The comedian had recurring TV roles in shows like The Cleveland Show, Joey, Up All Night, and Reno 911!

Although he had some prominent roles, he didn’t get a significant lead until being cast as the titular Ben in the 2012 series Ben and Kate, for which he received positive reviews.

The screenwriter also starred alongside Judy Greer in the FX comedy series Married, which ran for two seasons.
