Kyla Hope Taylor of Davenport, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 2024.
She was born on March 3, 1998, in Davenport, the beloved daughter of Michael and Susan Taylor.
Kyla graduated from Central High School in 2016 as valedictorian.
She earned a nursing degree from the University of Iowa in 2020 and worked as a dedicated pediatric nurse at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
Kyla had a heart of gold and brought joy to all who knew her.
She loved working with children and dreamed of someday starting her own family.
Kyla enjoyed spending time with her tight-knit family and friends. She loved the outdoors, especially camping and kayaking.
Kyla is survived by her parents, Michael and Susan; siblings Amanda, Jacob, and Noah; grandparents, Joan and Ralph Richardson; and boyfriend, Brandon Mills.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Thomas Taylor.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 19, at 2 pm at Davenport Funeral Home.
Instead of flowers, donations can be made in Kyla’s honor to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

Kyla Taylor Cause Of Death
The family of 27-year-old Kyla Taylor is reeling after police revealed she was murdered in her Davenport home on January 11.
David Jackson, 66, has been arrested and charged with Kyla’s murder, though authorities have not released details about the circumstances surrounding her tragic death.
“We’re just truly broken that our darling Kyla has been taken from us in the worst possible way and we will never get to see her beautiful face and smile again,” said Susan Taylor, Kyla’s mother. “It’s just left us with such a big hole in our hearts that can never be fixed.”
According to police, Kyla was killed sometime in the late evening of January 11.
Her body was discovered by authorities performing a wellness check the following day after she failed to show up for work at the children’s hospital.
The Taylor family said they are shocked someone could have done this to their kind, compassionate daughter.
“Our family will not rest until justice is served for Kyla,” said her father, Michael Taylor. “We hope no other family has to suffer this kind of senseless tragedy.”

The grief felt by Kyla Taylor’s family has been compounded by the fact that she leaves behind her 4-month-old daughter, who will now grow up without her mother.
“Not only did we lose our darling Kyla, but her beautiful baby girl lost her mama way too soon,” said Susan Taylor, Kyla’s mother.
“Our hearts break thinking about how she will not get to watch her first steps, hear her first words, or be there for all the big and small moments in her life.”
Family members said Kyla was a devoted young mother who loved her daughter deeply.
She took maternity leave from her job as a pediatric nurse to spend precious time bonding with her new baby after giving birth.
“Kyla absolutely cherished her daughter and talked about her constantly,” said coworker Michelle Santos.
“That innocent child will now have to go through life without the nurturing care of her loving mama, which is just unspeakably sad.”
The Taylor family said they plan to be a constant presence in the baby’s life and keep Kyla’s memory alive by sharing stories and photos with her.
“Kyla was like a ray of sunshine, always brightening the lives of everyone around her,” said Michelle Santos, a coworker at the hospital. “
