Juwan Marquise-Alexander is a former Detroit officer who was charged with manslaughter in the death of a 71-year-old man. Similarly, he is 29 years old as suggested by the officials.
Likewise, the Detroit police officer landed a fatal punch that killed the old man after an argument.
Brown could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted. Similarly, the officer was suspended the day after the incident as per the media reports.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy released a statement saying:
Police officers generally deal with citizens who are disorderly and verbally troublesome. However, the evidence in this particular case shows that the officer allegedly was the aggressor.
Also, the officer’s actions went criminally beyond what was necessary to tackle the situation. This behaviour cannot be tolerated by our law enforcement.
Moreover, Detroit police Chief James White also released a statement after the tragic incident that his decision to suspend the officer “was influenced by concerns.
Similarly, the officer failed to adequately de-escalate or disengage from the situation.

Detroit officer Juwan Marquise-Alexander Brown, 29, allegedly got into a brawl with 71-year-old man Daryl Vance.
As how the case begins, police were called just before 7 p.m. on 1 September 2023 to a bowling alley in the 4100 block of Woodward Avenue in Detroit.
Likewise, according to a Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office news release, Brown and Vance got into an argument.
Moreover, restaurant staff called the police to report that Vance of Highland Park was causing a disturbance. Besides, the 71-year-old man was intoxicated.
However, Brown punched Vance in the face. Hence, the deadly punch caused him to fall and hit his head on the pavement, as suggested by the media reports.
Soon, Vance was hospitalized and later died on 21 September 2023. Likewise, the medical examiner found that the cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head from the punch.
Moreover, Brown will be arraigned on 20 December in Detroit’s 36th District Court.
