He and Paula married on March 12, 1990, and shared two daughters together. Paula adopted Hurd’s surname after marriage. Paula is the second wife of Mark. He was married to Elizabeth from 1980 to 1987.

Mark was the head of Hewlett-Packard, a computer and printer-making company, from 2005. He was later involved in a sexual harassment scandal and had to leave the company in 2010. He joined Oracle a month later as the CEO.

In September 2019, Hurd announced that he wanted to go on leave because of some health issues. Co-CEO Safra Catz and Oracle founder CTO Larry Ellison were announced to manage the organization in his absence.

He died at 62 in October 2019 after a long battle with cancer. Hurd was reportedly worth $500 million at the time of his passing.
