The circumstances of Marelle’s death and David’s disappearance are still unclear.  Police were alerted by Marelle’s co-workers when she did not show up for work on Tuesday morning.

They found her body in her flat at around 8:40 am. They also launched a missing person investigation for David, who was last seen on Monday night when he and Marelle had dinner with some friends.

Police have appealed for anyone with information about David’s whereabouts or Marelle’s death to contact them.

They have also asked the public to avoid Mugdock Country Park while they conduct their search.

Marelle’s family and friends have expressed their shock and grief over her tragic death and have asked for privacy at this difficult time.

The city of Glasgow is in shock after the death of a heavily-pregnant teacher, Marelle Sturrock, who was found dead in her flat on Tuesday morning.

Police Scotland have launched a suspicious death investigation and are searching for her missing fiance, David Yates, who is believed to be connected to the incident.

Marelle Sturrock, 35, was a beloved teacher at Sandwood Primary School and an aspiring actress and singer.

Police were alerted to a concern for a person at the property shortly after 8:40 am on Tuesday, April 25.

Officers attended and found Marelle’s body inside the flat. Her unborn child had also perished. Police said her death is being treated as unexplained and are providing support to her family and friends.

Police are also looking for Marelle’s partner, David Yates, who is missing and is considered a person of interest in the case.

Officers have been conducting extensive searches of Mugdock Country Park in Milngavie, which is around nine miles from the flat, as they believe he may be there.

With the ongoing investigation Detective Chief Inspector Cheryl Kelly stated: “Our hearts go out to Marelle’s family and friends, as well as everyone who has been affected by this tragic incident. We are assisting her family at this extremely difficult time as our investigation to establish all the details continues.”

“A visible police presence will continue to be present at both locations as our work progresses.” There is no risk to the general public, however, I would encourage anyone with information or concerns to contact Police Scotland on 101, referencing incident 0904 of April 25, or talk to any of our officers.” Detective Kelly added.

Her friends had shared a photo of her smiling with them at a meal just hours before she was found dead. They described her as a “beautiful soul” who was “full of life.”
