Dejaughn Murphy’s Family Mourns The Tragic Loss

Dejaughn Murphy, the second oldest of five children of Bishop William II and Lady Donna Murphy, was born in Detroit, Michigan, on May 26, 1982.

His community is grieving the tragic loss of a beloved pastor and worship leader.

 

Dejaughn is remembered not only for his musical contributions but also for his kindness, infectious joy, and unwavering faith.

His boundless kindness left an indelible mark on every life he touched.

He didn’t just preach love and faith; he lived it with every breath, whether leading philanthropic endeavors that changed towns, bringing his passionate leadership to choir rehearsals, or simply being there for people in need.

Stacey M. English, a former coworker of Pastor DeJaughn Murphy, said that despite his need for encouragement, he always gave her the boost she needed when she needed it most.

He would always encourage me just when I needed it the most. Even though he himself needed to be encouraged. The dove was our signature sign off saying “It’s gone be alright” as we worked together in kingdom building. God has given you rest! To God be the glory!! Miracles, signs and wonder shall follow you.

Moreover, Dejaughn was a family guy. 

Pastor DeJaughn and Phoebe first crossed paths at a quartet concert in the fall of 2022, introduced by a mutual friend. Though he didn’t ask for her number immediately, he reached out through an acquaintance.

Phoebe was delighted and hoped for a call that day, but Jaughn waited a few days before reaching out. Since then, they had been inseparable, forming a beautiful bond.

They married on November 22, 2024, and have been blessed with a cherished daughter, Kobe Murphy.

From our very first conversation, I knew I would really like him. He wanted what I wanted: to please God and build a great legacy. He is handsome but more than anything his heart is right. I’m so happy to be marrying my best friend!

Dejaughn’s parents, wife, daughter, siblings, and sister-in-law, Danielle, survive him. He also shared a close bond with his nieces and other family members.

On the other hand, his twin brother, DeVaughn Murphy, a minister and singer and songwriter, preceded him in death. DeVaughn passed away in 2015.

His family will soon announce the date of his celebration of life, and they sincerely appreciate the community’s love, prayers, and encouragement.
