Gimme Light singer Cyn Santana was born to a Salvadorian mother and a Dominican father on 20 October 1992. Likewise, her parents raised her in Washington Heights, Manhattan, New York City.

Reportedly, her parents named her Cynthia Pacheco. Deviating away from her original name, the Latin artist renamed herself Cyn Santana, as it is common for musicians to adopt a stage name fitting their persona.

Unfortunately, Santana has not revealed much about her parents. However, once she admitted that her mother was very strict regarding their upbringing.

In a therapy session with Dr. Jenn Mann, the singer emotionally confessed with tears in her eyes about a horrific event that took place when she was five.

Cyn revealed she was molested by a woman who was her babysitter. The artist said:

I never talked of this publicly before. I think only like three people know about this, including Joe (her former partner). My mother also does not know. When I was 5, I was rap*d, and I was molested by a woman, who was my baby sitter. 

Santana added that the babysitter molested her, so hence, she has a hard time trusting anyone with her own baby.  The musician said,  “I do not let anybody change my baby’s diaper. I trust no one, after that”

It seems like the emotional trauma still haunts the artist as she still has doubts to entrust her kids to nannies. Hopefully, the therapy sessions helped Cyn to deal with the goneby traumas and solve her psychological problems.

Cyn Santana Family Background and Ethnicity Explored

Reportedly, Cyn Santana is of Dominican and Salvadorian descent. However, less information is available about her family.

Moreover, the musical artist grew up in a strict household. As suggested by VH1, Santana’s brother committed suicide at 24.

The reason was revealed to be his psychological battles with depression. Cyn is still very emotional when talking about the incident.
