Actor CV Dev had been receiving treatment for cardiac ailments at the Government Medical College Hospital in Kozhikode and passed away recently.

While it is speculated that his cardiac condition may have led to his demise, the exact cause of his death is yet to be officially confirmed.

Born in 1940 in Vadakara Chemmarathur, he was the eldest son of Kanaran and Narayani. At the time of his passing, he was 83 years old.

His wife, Janaki, and his children, Sukanya, Sukavya, and Sukatmajan, survived him. His nephews, Vijisha, Suresh, and Dasan, join in mourning the loss of this extraordinary talent.

The actor embarked on his artistic journey in 1959 when he secured a role in the play ‘Vilakkinte Velichathil,’ directed by Sadanandan Kallai.

With an illustrious career spanning over five hundred films and numerous theatrical productions, he left an indelible mark in acting.

Originally known as C. Vasudevan, he later adopted the stage name CV Dev, after establishing himself as a prominent figure in the art scene.

Throughout his career, he performed exceptionally in plays such as K.T Muhammad’s ‘Sthithi,’ M.T Vasudevan Nair’s ‘Gopura nadayil,’ and P M Taj’s ‘Agraharam.’

The funeral of Dev will take place on Tuesday, June 27, at 9 a.m. in Westhill Cemetery.
