Christine Sinclair parents are Bill (father) and Sandra (mother) to whom she was born in June 1983.

Her father, Bill, was a Canadian amateur soccer champion who played for the University of British Columbia and the New Westminster Blues in the Pacific Coast Soccer League.

Bill was 69 years old when he died on April 16, 2016, less than four months before the Rio Olympics.

In spite of this painful loss, Christine guided the Canadian team to a bronze medal in the Olympics.

In general, the soccer player is known for avoiding talking about her personal life outside of particular causes. She is regarded as a very reserved person.

Sandra, Christine’s mother, coached her young soccer team all through her childhood. The player was very close to her mom.

Unfortunately, Sandra passed away after battling with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a chronic disorder that affects the brain and nerves and can impair movement, balance, feeling, and vision.

She had been residing in a care facility in a suburban area of Vancouver.

When Sinclair was a teenager, she observed her mother Sandra start to attend her soccer matches with a cane.

Sandra quickly revealed that she had multiple sclerosis, a diagnosis and condition she had kept hidden from her children for the previous 12 years.

As of 2017, the soccer player has been actively involved in fundraising for MS research and care.

In the interview with The Canadian Press, Sinclair referred to her mother as the strongest person she knew.

Inspired by her mother, Sinclair wrote her memoir “Playing the Long Game” after helping lead Canada to a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

The book was released just months after Sandra passed away in February 2022.
