On the other hand, Buzz’s mother, Marion, had a diverse ancestry, including English, Scottish, and distant German roots.

His father served as an aviator in the United States Army during World War I and World War II. He also worked as an executive at Standard Oil Co.

After Aldrin graduated from Montclair High School in Montclair, New Jersey in 1947, he continued his academic pursuits at the  West Point Military Academy in New York.

He dedicated himself to studying mechanical engineering there, ultimately earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1951.
