Barbara Jeanne Flynn, an RN from Aptos, California, succumbed to illness the previous Sunday. She had only been ill for a short time.

In the Los Angeles region, Barbara worked as a nurse. For 37 years, she was employed in the medical industry, first as a clinical nurse and subsequently as a manager of healthcare companies. All during her career, she had been incredibly happy.

Most significantly, after joining the group in 1995, Barbara swiftly rose to the post of Health Services Director. She was a founder and trailblazing member of the Central California Alliance for Health. 

By taking on a significant leadership role in the process, she assisted the Alliance in increasing its ability to offer healthcare services to over 220,000 people in Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Merced counties.

Barbara’s knowledge, abilities, and insight contributed to several changes in the health services offered to the plan’s patients with the most significant medical needs until she retired in October 2012. 

In 2004, she received the Fred Keeley Award for Distinguished Contribution to Mission, which was granted to appreciate her remarkable success in healthcare reform.

Barbara Flynn Family Details To Know 

Barbara grew up in Castro Valley, California, and graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1975.

Her brother Michael and wife Pamela live in Corralitos, California; her sister Patricia, lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and her sister-in-law and best friend Diane Flynn, who lives in Livermore, California, survive her.

Her parents, Alfred and Marie Flynn, and her brother, Robert Flynn, died before she died.

In addition to being a diligent worker, Barbara had great affection for her vast extended family. She loved her eight nieces and nephews and her ten great-nieces and great-nephews.

Barbara worked nonstop. She also had a lifelong and profound passion for animals, and it wasn’t until December that she bid goodbye to Andy, her long-time canine companion.

Andy had been by her side the entire time. Yosemite was one of her favorite locations to visit as a child, so she spent a lot of time there. As a result, she had a soft spot in her heart for the beautiful valley, which she found pretty pleasant to look upon.
