Bam Adebayo, whose full name is Edrice Femi Adebayo, is an American professional basketball player.

Adebayo played college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats before declaring for the 2017 NBA Draft.

 He plays as a center or power forward for the Miami Heat, and he has been selected as an All-Star twice and an All-Defensive team member four times in his five-year career.

Standing at 6 feet 9 inches (2.06 meters) tall and weighing around 255 pounds (116 kilograms), Adebayo possesses a combination of size, athleticism, and skill that makes him a versatile player.

Bam Adebayo was born as Edrice Femi Adebayo on July 18, 1997, in Newark, New Jersey. His parents are John Adebayo and Marilyn Blount.

He was ranked as one of the top prospects in the nation and received offers from many colleges. He chose to play for the University of Kentucky under coach John Calipari.

Bam spent one year at Kentucky, where he averaged 13 points and 8 rebounds per game. He helped the Wildcats reach the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.

Bam then declared for the 2017 NBA draft and was selected by the Miami Heat with the 14th overall pick. He has been improving his game every season with the Heat, becoming a key player for their defense and offense. 

He made his first All-Star appearance in 2020 and also won the Skills Challenge at the All-Star Weekend.

Bam Adebayo Parents – who are they?

Bam was born to his parents John Adebayo and Marilyn Blount. His father John Adebayo was born in Nigeria.

When he moved to the United States, he met Bam’s mother, Marilyn Blount. They fell in love, married, and had Bam in Newark, New Jersey on July 18, 1997.

However, when Bam was very young, John decided to leave his family and return to Nigeria. He passed away in 2020 while still living in Nigeria.

His mother, Marilyn Blount was an African-American woman who grew up in Newark. She raised Bam as a single mother after John left them.

She worked as a cashier and lived with her son in a single-wide trailer in North Carolina. She sacrificed a lot for Bam and supported him throughout his basketball journey.

Marilyn named him “Bam Bam” when he was one year old after he flipped over a coffee table while watching The Flintstones.

Marilyn is very close to Bam and often attends his games. She is very proud of her son and his achievements. Bam also loves his mother dearly and credits her for his success.

Bam Adebayo Ethnicity revealed

Bam Adebayo is of mixed ethnicity. His father was a Yoruba man from Nigeria, while his mother is an African-American woman.

Adebayo had his breakout season in 2019-20 when he became a full-time starter for the Heat.

He averaged 15.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, five assists, 1.3 blocks, and 1.1 steals per game, shooting 55.7 percent from the field and 69 percent from the free throw line.

Adebayo was instrumental in leading the Heat to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014, as he averaged 17.8 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists, one block, and one steal per game in the playoffs.

Adebayo signed a five-year contract extension with the Heat worth $163 million on November 24, 2020, with a player option for the fifth year.

He represented Team USA at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, where he won a gold medal alongside fellow NBA stars such as Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard, and Jayson Tatum.

Bam Adebayo Siblings revealed

Adebayo does not have a brother, but he has a half-brother from his father’s side. His half-brother’s name is Jabari Ashe and he lives in New Jersey.

Adebayo mentioned him briefly in an interview but did not give much detail about their relationship.

Adebayo is currently one of the best big men in the league, with his ability to score, rebound, pass, defend, and run the floor. He is the anchor of the Heat’s defense and the focal point of their offense.
