Bahamadia, a hip-hop musician and singer from America, goes by the real name Antonia D. Reed.

Her debut album, Kollage, was published in 1996, and later she independently released the EP BB Queen in 2000.

After that, in 2005, Bahamadia launched the full-length album Good Rap Music.

Moreover, she released the songs ‘Dialled Up Vol. 1’, ‘Here,’ and ‘Dialled Up Vol. 2’ in 2013, 2015, and 2018, respectively.

Interestingly, she has not only established herself as a remarkable solo artist but has also been featured on tracks by renowned musicians such as The Roots, Jedi Mind Tricks, and Erykah Badu.

In November 2016, a notable event took place when Bahamadia made a guest appearance on season 15 of Project Runway, where her son, Mah-Jing Wong, participated as a contestant.

Bahamadia Family Ethnicity: Meet Her Parents

Bahamadia originally hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she was born in 1966 to her parents.

The singer has not provided explicit information about her ethnic background. 

However, it can be inferred from her appearance that the Bahamadia family ethnicity likely has a black background.

Her distinct features and complexion are indicative of African ancestry.

Growing up, the musician was surrounded by a family deeply immersed in the arts. It led to her being encouraged to journal and write poetry and short stories.

Although her parents’ identities are not made clear, she has mentioned that her mother has a natural singing gift.

On the other hand,  her father pursued a career in the culinary arts during his military service.

Reflecting on her upbringing, Bahamadia fondly recalls how terrestrial radio exposed her to diverse music genres, enriching her musical palette from an early age.

As she reminisced about her early days, she disclosed that her home resonated with the harmonious blend of music genres like electronic and experimental music, creating a unique and vibrant atmosphere.

Meet Bahamadia Son Mah-Jing Wong

Talking about Bahamadia’s family members, she has a grown-up son, Mah-Jing Wong. He has carved out a successful career as a fashion designer while following his mother’s footsteps.

At the tender age of 11, he discovered his passion for crafting clothing, which would later become his profession. At that time, Bahamadia took him under the wings to polish his passion.

It was his grandmother’s guidance that steered him towards the art of hand sewing and the skill of pattern-making, using nothing more than the pages of weekly newspapers to hone his craft.

In terms of education, he earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Fashion Marketing degree from the Arts Institute of Philadelphia.

During his senior year, mah-Jing Wong began interning for prominent fashion designer ‘Zac Posen.’

This encounter inspired him to co-found the Mah-Jing Wong brand with his wife, Stacie Wong, in 2011.

Each appearance the Mah-Jing Wong team designed mixes their passion for hip-hop with Japanese animation.

Likewise, he is also recognized for participating in the televised fashion reality competition “Project Runway.”

Bahamadia appeared on the show as a guest client for one of the tasks in one of the episodes.

Season 15 of Lifetime’s television series, which aired from September to December 2016, featured this.

Mah-Jing competed rather well, ending in sixth place and leaving the competition in the eleventh episode.
