A spokesperson from the hospital conveyed that the singer, Richard Penniman, sustained injuries due to the accident that occurred at 12:05 a.m., as reported by Ron Wise.
According to Deputy George Moak, witnesses informed sheriff’s deputies that Penniman was driving his 1984 Nissan 300ZX at around 60 miles per hour.
According to the police investigation, the accident happened on Santa Monica Boulevard when he collided with a telephone pole at Curson Avenue.
