What Happened To Lamont Butler Sister Sasha?
The sophomore guard Lamond Butler is one who hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer to send San Diego State to its first-ever national championship game in school history.
But behind his success on the court is a tragic story of loss and grief that he has been coping with for over a year.
Lamont’s sister, Asasha Lache Hall, also known as Sasha, was shot and killed in January 2022 at her home in Hemet, California.
She was 28 years old and left behind two children, a son and a daughter. The motive and the suspect of the shooting are still unknown, and the case remains unsolved.
Sasha was one of Lamont’s biggest supporters and fans, often attending his games and cheering him on.
She was also a mentor and a role model for him, encouraging him to pursue his dreams and stay focused on his education. Lamont described her as “the best sister ever” and “a beautiful person inside and out.”
Lamont was devastated by Sasha’s death, but he honored her memory by continuing to play basketball, the sport they both loved. He said basketball helped him cope with his pain and find happiness again.
He also said that he felt Sasha’s presence with him during his games, especially his miraculous shot that clinched the win for SDSU against FAU in the Final Four.
In the interview with ESPN, Lamont said“I think about her every day. Ever since she passed. She was one of my biggest supporters, and I know she’s up there happy right now, watching me play the game that I love. And I think she was with me with that shot. She probably guided the ball in a little bit. I miss her, and I’m just happy I’m able to do this for her.”
